TechUnity has been at the vanguard of mobile handheld wireless applications since its inception, and has remained abreast with evolving trends in this space. We develop mobile commerce systems on all the traditional platforms such as iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, Palm, Android, and Symbian. TechUnity developed the first Location Based Service covering the Washington, DC area in 2000, and has since advanced towards GIS / GPS real time tracking. TechUnity is now working with selected wireless carriers, device manufacturers, and developers in the evolving area of Augmented Reality.

iPhone applications have been developed in areas such as Social Networking, Interactive Chat, Visitor Monitor, and File Management. These applications utilize some of the most sophisticated features of the iPhone, and for devices with GPS modules, Location Tracking and Proximity Social Networking constructs can be activated. These constructs elevate interactivity to near real time dialogue for social cliques desiring to indulge in constant contact. Participants can track the behavior of other parties based on consensual permissions, and audits can be retrieved to reconcile miscommunication. |

Enterprise grade Blackberry applications have been developed for Field Services functions that enable service technicians to receive real time Work Order instructions from dispatchers. Mobile Commerce applications have been developed for traveling sales representatives so that they can check inventory availabilities before committing new orders. Several CRM and Calendar Schedule applications have also been developed as custom additions to traditional online CRM systems. Most of the Blackberry applications developed are geared towards worker productivity and less on social media for a younger audience. |

Windows Mobile applications have been developed to facilitate Mobile Workforce, Real Estate, Data Collection, Social Networking, and Online Gaming. Applications we have developed enable users to pull and subsequently synchronize data form the enterprise, to the desktop, and then to the handheld device. These applications can be used in connected mode where there is carrier coverage, and will function stand alone when out of coverage. Active users are mobile workers that must perform complete business transactions but who frequently roam in an out of coverage zones.

The applications TechUnity has developed for Palm devices mainly provide mobile access to enterprise CRM systems, Order Entry, light financial services functions such as mortgage calculators, and insurance policy and claims data capture. As Palm matured its product line, TechUnity has performed application migration to the more recent Palm Pre device. TechUnity has also developed handheld repositories for clients in fine arts that need to manager and share digital assets. These repositories are pulled from content management systems to the handheld so that auctioneers can easily solicit collectors.

Applications for Symbian devices were developed mainly for the retail and point of sales market and also ruggedized systems. TechUnity has created light versions of POS applications for Symbian devices to accommodate mobile cashiering. These modules are wirelessly connected to enterprise POS or Retail Management Systems, and can function in connected or disconnected modes. Most of the Barcode modules we have developed are also based on Symbian. These modules are applied to warehousing and shipping systems and are treated as complements to desktop and web transactions.

The Android operating system for handheld devices has gained acceptance as an open source competitor to all the other handheld platforms. TechUnity has done limited development on this platform for a handful of mobile phone devices, but these applications have been restricted to gaming systems. As this platform gains popularity it is anticipated that we will develop enterprise grade solutions in areas such as messaging, mobile banking, hospitality reservation, and entertainment ticketing. Since TechUnity has a unit devoted to open source technologies, we expect to follow the industry as this platform matures.
