GIS
Applications

TechUnity has broad experience developing GIS applications covering areas such as Agriculture and Land Management. This has enabled us to expand our GIS development capabilities to encompass areas such as Environment Management, Urban Planning, Transportation, Emergency Management, Public Works, Utilities, and conversion in areas such as hydrographic surveys, and photogrammetry. We implement systems on most of the commonly known GIS platforms such as ESRI, Intergraph, Autodesk, MapInfo, Oracle Spatial, Kalypso, MySQL Spatial, Google Maps, Virtual Earth, and MapPoint.
Natural Resource
Management

Increased attention is being placed on environmental and natural resource management issues, and TechUnity has participated in GIS development work in areas pertaining to deforestation, reforestation, soil erosion, and natural disasters such as floods and landslides. TechUnity has the capability to superimpose weather data onto GIS systems. This adds another layer of intelligence onto geospatial topography allowing users to more accurately observe the impact of climatic changes on the environment and this further facilitates decision support through the interpretation of time lapsed overlays.
Utilities

TechUnity has worked with utilities to map their distribution assets which include transmission cables, gas lines, water mains, and waste tunnels. The resulting GIS systems facilitate the effective upkeep of existing infrastructure and are critical in emergency management situations to rapidly identify local distribution assets. The management of critical infrastructure has become more acute so as to elevate the state of jurisdictional preparedness, and as such these systems are continually upgraded to remain current with local population growth and commercial development.
Urban Planning

Urban Sprawl is a common phenomenon in most metropolitan areas, and to effectively manage this growth, local jurisdictions perform elaborate plans to orderly administer the expansion. GIS systems are among the first applications to be implemented or enhanced as part of urban planning and development management, and TechUnity has played a key role in extending these applications to map the new areas of growth. These systems become decision support vehicles for planning and monitor controlled growth, and are used as the main guides to enforce property development codes.
Public Works

Public Works departments are increasingly facing severe budgetary constraints and are being forced to produce more with less. GIS systems are extensively used to effectively plan and execute large construction projects. This ensures that large publically funded civil engineering projects are performed with greater accuracy and precision so as to avoid the pitfalls of having to rework roadways, bridges, and runoff systems. TechUnity has been involved in reworking GIS maps to increase overall accuracy and to be more aligned with Civil Engineering and other Public Works plans.
Location Based
Services

Location Based Services are gaining widespread popularity as smart phones become more commonplace. The appeal of these systems is predicated on the accuracy and completeness of the GIS systems that map the local services. TechUnity is actively involved in the implementation of Location Based Services and is playing a key role in carting local services to the precision demanded by smart phone applications. Now that the demand for these applications are proliferating, we are experiencing growing interest to integrate GIS systems to track user behavior in local geographies.
